COMMENT - "I decided to benchmark Quake 2 because I wanted to see how well the Savage 2000 and Kyro 2 performed with an older game. As expected both of the video cards performed extremely well and both delivered excellent performance in all resolutions."

COMMENT - "The Savage 2000 performs well with Quake 3 and it's performance is very playable. However there are some problems, the floor textures look odd and trilinear filtering isn't working. I think the floor texture problems are related to trilinear problem."

COMMENT - "Serious Sam ran without any graphical problems and the Savage 2000's performance was playable at both of the lower resolutions. Once again the Kyro 2 is the performance leader and even at 1024x768 delivered playable frame rates."

CONCLUSION - "The Inno3D Savage 2000 is a good video card which has sadly been let down by poor driver support. Installation went smoothly, 2D quality was good even at high resolutions due to the 350mhz RAMDAC. 3D image quality was good for the most part with some texture problems in Quake III and Max Payne, with better driver support these would of been corrected. Stability was very good, I didn't experience any problems with crashing or instability."

GOOD POINTS

• Good performance helped by the generous 64MB memory.
• Good 2D quality especially at high resolutions.
• Good 16bit image quality and performance.
• Installation was trouble free and the video card didn't crash once.
• Can be purchased very cheaply (£39/$36).
• Older games (DX7) worked flawlessly and at very playable speeds.

BAD POINTS

• Driver support has ceased so if a game doesn't work your on your own.
• Enabling Hardware T&L reduced game performance by atleast 25%.
• Quake 3 and Max Payne have some strange texture problems.
• Trilinear filtering doesn't work correctly.
