"AMD Athlon XP 3000 tested against the Athlon XP 2500 as requested by a reader. Software used for benchmarking the processors was:- 3dmark 2001 SE, 3dmark 2003, Sis Sandra 2004, Aida32, Serious Sam the Second Encounter, Unreal Tournament 2003 and Unreal Tournament 2004."

COMMENT - "Using 3DMARK 2001 the XP 3000 delivered only a 7% increase in performance over the XP 2500 which is 3% less than our 10%. 3DMARK 2003 is a video card benchmark so the 3% increase in performance was expected because cpu power isn't as important as video card power."

CONCLUSION - "The biggest performance increase upgrading from a Athlon XP 2500 to a Athlon XP 3000 was 12%, let's compare that to the difference in cost. When upgrading to a XP 3000 in the US you will pay 53% more and in the UK you will pay 48% more. The XP 3000 doesn't sound like such a good buy does it for such a small performance increase you will be paying approx five times more.

This means the only real advantage the EVGA GeForce GTS 250 has over the Inno3D GeForce 9800 GTX+ is an extra 512MB Memory."
