NVIDIA FORCEWARE v61.76 REVIEW

In this article we will compare the recently released v61.76 drivers to the previous 50 series releases. We have used a wide range of games which include titles like:- unreal tournament 2004, serious sam second encounter, comanche4, x2 the threat, unreal 2, postal 2, desert rats v afrika korps, far cry, colin mcrae rally 04, painkiller and haegemonia legions of iron. I think we have succeeded in testing the drivers with a good range of different types of games both new and old.

COMMENT - "The 61.76 driver start off strongly with Unreal Tournament 2004 and it wins four out of the five demos tested. Serious Sam SE performance is very close between all of the drivers and there is no clear winner. Postal 2 performed better on the 53.03 driver by a tiny 1fps. Desert Rats v Afrika Korps perfomed better on the 53.03 and 61.76 driver by 3fps. Colin Mcrae Rally 04 performed better using the 56.72 drivers but only by 2fps. Haegemonia Legions of Iron performed better using the 56.72 driver which finished 6fps faster than the 53.03 driver. The best driver for 4x Anti-aliasing and 8x Anisotropic Filtering was the latest 61.76 driver which scored 963, the 56.72 driver scored 962 and the 53.03 driver scored 957."

COMMENT - "The v53.03 driver released 09.12.03 were the first driver to support the GeForce 5900 XT although by then any performance increase for the GeForce 5900 range was already at it's peak. The 56.72 driver released 01.04.04 mostly increased Far Cry and colin mcrae rally 04 performance. For the 5900xt the 61.76 driver released 20.07.04 mostly contained bugfixes and in some cases resulted in a small performance increase. The reason there are no image quality comparisons is because all three drivers delivered the same image quality so it would of been pointless."
