ASROCK K8 UPGRADE 760 GX

COMMENT - "When using the onboard video on the ASROCK K8 UPGRADE760 GX we experienced excellent display quality and performance which makes it very good for things like the Internet and Office Applications etc. However when we tried to play games even at the lowest image quality and resolution we experienced very poor performance."

COMMENT - "To help gauge cpu performance between the AMD Athlon XP 3200 and the AMD Sempron 3100 we have used the SiSoftware Sandra 2005 CPU test. Using the ALU Dhrystone test the Athlon XP 3200 beat the Sempron 3100 by 9% and with the FPU Whetstone test the Sempron 3100 beat the Athlon XP 3200 by 6%."

COMMENT - "As expected there is not a huge difference when using 3DMark which test 3D performance more than general performance. 3DMark 2001 showed the biggest difference which I think has more to do with the memory controller on the Sempron processor rather than the motherboard."

COMMENT - "I was suprised by how close the game performance result was, the biggest difference in performance was with Quake 3 which showed an increase of 9fps. The powerful AMD Athlon XP 3200 processor really helps the ASROCK K7S8XE+ with game performance."

CONCLUSION - "The ASROCK K8 UPGRADE 760 GX delivered good performance, the onboard video is a good idea for people who just want a computer for office applications etc. However when used with games the onboard video was inadequate and a real graphics card is required. We did experience some problems with memory incompatibility although we are sure these problems with be fixed."
