"The AMD Sempron 3400 Palermo processor is currently the most powerful Sempron processor available for Socket 754. The AMD Sempron 3400 has all of the main features expected with modern processors such as MMX, 3Dnow, SSE, SSE2, SSE3 and x86-64 support. Unlike the Athlon64 3400 the Sempron 3400 and Athlon64 3000 also have support for SSE3, the only negative aspect of the Sempron 3400 is that it has a 256K Level 2 Cache unlike the Athlon64 processors."

COMMENT - "Using games tested with low resolution and quality settings the Athlon64 3400 offers 25% extra gaming performance compared to the Sempron 3400 and Athlon64 3000. Although the Sempron 3400 delivers playable performance it finishes 11% slower than the Athlon64 3000 which is clocked 200Mhz lower."

CONCLUSION - "The Sempron 3400 was outclassed by the 2.4 Ghz Athlon64 3400 although it did offer performance close to the Athlon64 3000. When using benchmarks which require a high clock speed the Sempron 3400 performed well and actually beat the Athlon64 3000. However when using games software the 256K L2 Cache found on the Sempron 3400 gave the Athlon64 3000 the edge."
