GIGABYTE GEFORCE PCX 5900 REVIEW

The Gigabyte GeForce PCX 5900 is powered by Nvidia GeForce PCX 5900 GPU using the new PCI-Express interface. The Gigabyte GeForce PCX 5900 is a DirectX 9.0 video card with 128MB DDR memory using a fast 256bit memory interface. The Gigabyte GeForce PCX 5900 has full support for the Gigabyte V-Tuner 2 overclocking applications. The Gigabyte GeForce PCX 5900 has DVI-I, TV Output and D-Sub connectors, it is also supplied with PowerDVD 5.0 and two world class games.

COMMENT - "Quake 4 is a game using a modified Doom 3 engine and as shown previously ATI video cards are usually at a disadvantage with games using this engine. It is therefore very suprising to see the Sapphire Radeon 9600 XT beat the Gigabyte GeForce PCX 5900 by between 8% to 14%. However all of the video cards are unable to provide playable performance when using high quality settings."

COMMENT - "Another interesting result with the Sapphire Radeon 9600 XT starting off strongly and beating the Gigabyte GeForce PCX 5900 by between 25% to 52% and then losing to the Gainward GeForce4 Ti4600 by 51%. The reason for the sudden performance hit for the Gigabyte GeForce PCX 5900 when using medium quality is that the Scooter lights effect uses DX9 and as shown previously the Gigabyte GeForce PCX 5900 has poor DX9 performance. The reason the Gainward GeForce4 Ti4600 wins the high quality benchmark is because it doesn't use any lights so it has lower image quality than the Gigabyte GeForce PCX 5900 and Sapphire Radeon 9600 XT."
