AMD ATHLON64 X2 4200 REVIEW

"Today we will be reviewing the AMD Athlon64 X2 4200 processor which uses the Manchester core and we will compare it to the AMD Athlon64 3500 Venice. Software used for benchmarking included CPU Mark 2, Nuclearus Multi Core, PC Mark 2005, Realstorm 2004, Science Mark 2 and Super Pi."

TAKE MULTI-TASKING TO A WHOLE NEW LEVEL WITH THE ATHLON64 X2 4200!

"The AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual-Core puts the power of dual-core technology on the desktop. Dual-core processors contain two processing cores, residing on one chip, that perform calculations on two streams of data, thereby increasing efficiency and speed while running multiple programs and the new generation of multi-threaded software."

"For the end-user this means a significant increase in response and performance when running multiple applications simultaneously. The AMD Athlon™ 64 X2 Dual-Core processor outperforms the highest-performing AMD Athlon™ 64 4000+ single-core processor on multi-tasking benchmarks by up to 30%."

COMMENT - "When properly supported Dual Core can deliver an impressive performance increase over Single Core as shown in this Nuclearus Multi Core benchmark. Overall the AMD Athlon64 X2 4200 outperformed the AMD Athlon64 3500 by an impressive 29%. The ALU and FPU results only show a small 1% to 5% advantage for the AMD Athlon64 X2 4200 but the Multi-Thread benchmark shows how impressive Dual Core is when the AMD Athlon64 X2 4200 outperforms the AMD Athlon64 3500 by a very impressive 37%!"

COMMENT - "PC Mark 2005 CPU delivers an impressive victory for the AMD Athlon64 X2 4200 of 28% over the AMD Athlon64 3500. Dual Core Technology doesn't seem to increase the performance a great deal with the Memory, Graphics or Hard Drive and it's results are the same as the AMD Athlon64 3500."
