"We are testing the Phenom II X4 955 CPU against the Athlon II X4 645 CPU. The Phenom II X4 955 is clocked at 3200Mhz and the Athlon II X4 645 is clocked at 3100Mhz. The Phenom II X4 955 supports MMX+, 3DNow+, SSE, SSE2, SSE3, SSE4A, x86-64 and AMD-V. A big advantage for the Phenom II X4 955 is the 6MB Level 3 Cache while the Athlon II X4 645 has none. We will be using Benchmarks for testing the Phenom II X4 955 and Athlon II X4 645 which are:- Cinebench, Everest, Geekbench, Novabench and Nuclearus. Games are Hawk 2 and Lost Planet 2."

FINAL RESULTCOMMENT - "The AMD Phenom II X4 955 puts in a good show against the AMD Athlon II X4 645. The AMD Phenom II X4 955 has some serious advantage over the AMD Athlon II X4 645 such as the AMD Phenom II X4 955 having a 6MB L3 Cache. The 100Mhz Clock Speed advantage for the AMD Phenom II X4 955 over the AMD Athlon II X4 645 is only 4% which is nothing. The 6MB Level 3 Cache showed it's worth with the Games Performance which the AMD Phenom II X4 955 clearly won. However the other Benchmarks to Test the Raw Processing Performance of the AMD Phenom II X4 955 showed a much smaller difference with the AMD Athlon II X4 645. Don't get me wrong the AMD Phenom II X4 955 is a very good Processor but if you don't use Games then the cheaper AMD Athlon II X4 645 is the one to get." |
