"We are testing the AMD Phenom II X4 970 CPU against the AMD Phenom II X4 955 CPU. The AMD Phenom II X4 970 is clocked at 3500Mhz and the AMD Phenom II X4 955 is clocked at 3200Mhz. We will be using Benchmarks for testing the AMD Phenom II X4 970 and AMD Phenom II X4 955 which are:- Divx, Povray, Sysmark 2007, Windows Media Encoder, Fall Out 3 and Left for Dead 2. The AMD Phenom II X4 970 has 9% higher clock speed than the AMD Phenom II X4 955 but both have 6MB L3 Cache so the AMD Phenom II X4 970 should have the advantage."

FINAL RESULTCOMMENT - "The AMD Phenom II X4 970 gained the upper hand with General Computer use beating the AMD Phenom II X4 955 by 8%. The AMD Phenom II X4 970 also won with Games Software beating the AMD Phenom II X4 955 by 5%. However the performance of the AMD Phenom II X4 970 doesnt match the 25% higher price compared to the AMD Phenom II X4 955 which is why I have marked the AMD Phenom II X4 970 down. Both the AMD Phenom II X4 970 and AMD Phenom II X4 955 delivered some solid results with Games and General PC use." |
