(04/07) DDR3 MEMORY MODULES FROM SUPER TALENT AT HARDWARE SECRETS - "We took a walk on Silicon Valley today and we could see what’s new at Super Talent. They showed us two working DDR3 memory modules (not just dummy samples) with 512 MB each. Let’s take a look on what they got."

(04/07) ABIT AND MSI TAKE ON THE NFORCE 650I REVIEW AT TECH REPORT - "The latest 650i-based motherboards to hit the market are Abit's Fatal1ty FP-IN9 SLI and MSI's P6N SLI Platinum, and we've been abusing both in our labs for the last couple of weeks. Can a textbook MSI offering challenge Abit's first attempt to adapt the Fatal1ty brand to a mid-range mobo? Read on as we test these boards against half a dozen others to find out."

(04/07) HIS RADEON X1050 RV370XT REVIEW AT VIPER LAIR - "If your budget is tight but you still want to power Vista's Aero GUI, this low cost card may be a suitable replacement for the majority of onboard solutions."

(04/07) NVIDIA GEFORCE 7600GT vs 8600GT REVIEW AT LEGIT REVIEWS - "Nvidia has recently released the new GeForce 8600 GT which is designed to be the successor of the 7600 GT. In fact the 8600 GT is the third instalment of a successful x600 GT series from Nvidia, which they have been building for the past three years. The series all began with the 6600 GT, a $200 US graphics card that produced performance that could almost rival high-end parts. Armed with a 500MHz 8-pixel pipeline core and 900MHz GDDR3 memory utilizing a 128-bit memory bus, the 6600 GT was a force to be reckoned with."

(04/07) EVGA GEFORCE 8600 GT REVIEW AT PC PER - "Last week NVIDIA unveiled their new mainstream GPU offerings in the form of the 8600 GTS, 8600 GT and 8500 GT graphics cards. Our first article covered only the new BFG Tech 8600 GTS OC card and compared it to the similarly-priced card from AMD's ATI Radeon line. This time we are testing the EVGA e-GeForce 8600 GT Superclocked video card that aims to be even more impressive (compared to the competition) than its older brother and sell for $50 less!"

(04/07) POWERCOLOR X1950 PRO SCS3 REVIEW AT BJORN3D - "What I have for you today is PowerColor X1950 PRO SCS3. The card itself should be somewhat familiar, though "SCS3" suffix explanation might be needed. You probably gathered from our previous PowerColor reviews what SCS stood for, if not than read along. Silent Cooling System is what PowerColor used for the first time with their Bravo X700, X800 XL SCS2 512MB and then with X1550 SCS. Now it's time for something completely fresh."

(04/07) $185 GAMING CPU'S : AMD 5600+ VERSUS INTEL E6300 REVIEW AT LEGIT REVIEWS - "With AMD's most recent price cuts they reduced prices on all of their series, but the sharpest cuts came on processors for AMD's desktop lineup. The most powerful processor in the X2 lineup, the X2 6000+, now costs $241, down 48 percent from $464 last month. The next most powerful chip, the X2 5600+, is now 42 percent cheaper at just $188. The prices of other desktop chips were cut between 20 and 40 percent. With these drastic price cuts the consumer is the winner as AMD revenues will continue to decrease as the price war continues."

(04/07) SOUND AND PHYSICS ARE THE BUZZWORDS FOR AMD'S R600 AT THE INQUIRER - "R600 combines graphics with audio and physics process in a whole another way, and those 64 vect5D shader pipelines yield in 320 scalar units total, directly comparable to Nvidia's 128 scalar ones. Now, 128 scalar units at 1.35 GHz is still a tad more efficient that ATi's own 320 at 740 MHz, but ATi's pipeline is more complex than it was previously thought. Who'd ahev thought that ATI would overtake Nvidia in a race to multi-purpose GPU and make consoles of today with their PowerPC CPUs look so 1990s? Perhaps R600 was really worth the wait after all."

(04/07) SAPPHIRE RADEON X1950 PRO DUAL REVIEW AT HOT HARDWARE - "This new solution is the Sapphire Radeon X1950 Pro Dual. As you might imagine from the name, this product merges together two Radeon X1950 Pro graphics processors onto a single (large - very, very large) PCB. Each graphics processor has its own 512 MB of memory to address for a total of 1 GB of onboard memory. The two graphics processors are linked together via an internal Crossfire connection, meaning only one PCI Express x16 slot is needed on the motherboard. It's a beast of a card and is definitely a brute force method of getting more rendering power from ATI's current processor designs, but it's certainly an intriguing product. Let's take a closer look."

(04/07) AMD Q1 2007 EARNINGS CONFERENCE CALL NOTES AND SUMMARY AT AMD ZONE - "I have posted up my notes here from AMD's Q1 2007 earnings call. This one is the best one in some time, and is chock full of details on Barcelona, R600, 45nm progress, 300mm fab progress, and desktop Barcelona parts. It also includes AMD's new asset light commitment, word on job cuts, and ways AMD is looking to get more capital. The Q and A session was a mammoth one and provides details about AMD has learned while integrating ATI, and hints at possible future products from that merger. This one is not to be missed."

(04/07) NVIDIA GEFORCE 8600 SERIES GRAPHICS CARDS REVIEW AT TECH REPORT - "Anyhow, before I forget, the prompter of today's stimulant-enhanced activities is Nvidia's launch of a new line of DirectX 10-capable mid-range graphics cards, known as the GeForce 8600 series. In fact, Nvidia is setting loose a whole range of products, from the bargain-bin GeForce 8300 GS to the GeForce 8600 GTS, which merits at least six shots of espresso, by my reckoning."

(04/07) XFX 8600GT AND 8600 GTS XXX EDITION REVIEW AT LEGIT REVIEWS - "The GeForce 8600 series of GPUs are based off the GeForce 8800 series GPUs and bring DirectX 10 graphics to the masses by being available in the popular $149-$229 price range. While right now not everyone needs the power of geometry shaders, unique instancing, massive texture arrays and high dynamic range rendering with 16x anti-aliasing, these features will be of great use in upcoming DirectX 10 game titles."

(04/07) FOXCONN GEFORCE 8600 GT REVIEW AT ELITE BS - "However, today sees NVIDIA getting ready to roll out the mainstream big guns once again, bringing their DirectX 10 G8x architecture down to this lower price range. The core is G84, the product name is the GeForce 8600 GTS, and its target is broadly the price point currently occupied by the GeForce 7900 GS and Radeon X1950 PRO. There's no doubting that this board will have the features, but does it have the performance to match?"

(04/07) ASUS GEFORCE 8600 GTS REVIEW AT XBIT LABS - "Today we are taking a look at the G86, the GeForce 8600 GTS, which can boast DirectX 10 support, high image quality, modern micro-architecture and low power consumption. But how fast is it in contemporary games? Let’s find out together by taking a look at one of the first mainstream-class DX10 graphics cards on the market – Asustek EN8600 GTS."

(04/07) BFGTECH AND XFX GEFORCE 8600 GTS REVIEW AT HARDOCP - "NVIDIA’s DX10 answers to the mainstream video card market are finally here with new GeForce 8 series GPUs ranging from $89-$229. We have the BFGTech GeForce 8600 GTS OC and the XFX GeForce 8600 GTS XXX we put to the test playing real games and the newest STALKER."

(04/07) NVIDIA SHOWS G84 AND G86 REVIEW AT PC PERSPECTIVE - "Today we are seeing the announcement of the full line up including the 8600 series, 8500 and even some OEM-only 8400 and 8300 cards. And even though the majority of the features are the same on the G8x derivatives, there have been improvements in a couple of key areas."

(04/07) MSI NX8600GT REVIEW AT XS REVIEWS - "Nvidia has dominated the high end of the GPU market for the last 5 months with their 8800GTX and GTS offerings. However up to now ATI/AMD has managed to hold their own in the mid range market with their X1950 series, specifically the great "bang for buck" x1950 Pro. Now though, Nvidia are bringing in their mid-range muscle; it's time for the 8600GT."

(04/07) XFX GEFORCE 8600GTS XXX REVIEW AT TWEAKTOWN - "DirectX 10 mainstream graphics cards are here in the form of nVidia GeForce 8600GTS – we check out the XFX XXX edition."

(04/07) ASUS EXTREME N8600GTS TOP REVIEW AT LEGION HARDWARE - "On paper the GeForce 8600 GTS sounds like a weapon and for just $229 US there is every chance it will be. However, there is one glaring weakness of all the 8600 and even 8500 series cards, and that is the 128-bit memory bus. While the GeForce 8800 GTS works off a 320-bit memory bus and the 8800 GTX a 384-bit bus, the mainstream cards are limited to 128-bit. This is a little disappointing, though at the same time we understand why Nvidia has limited their new mid-range graphics cards to the 128-bit memory bus. The cost difference between implementing a 128-bit when compared to a 256-bit bus for example, is quite large and would push these graphics cards out of their intended price range."

(04/07) GEFORCE 8600 GT & GTS SHOOTOUT REVIEW AT GURU3D - "What we are to bring you today is something quite extensive. We have an in-depth article planned with NVIDIA's new GeForce 8600 GT and GTS based graphics cards where participating board partners like Sparkle, eVGA BFG, XFX, Galaxy Technology and Point of View have all submitted a card. All these great manufacturers and new products in one big article. A shootout on the actual launch, how cool is that?"

(04/07) NVIDIA GEFORCE 8600 GTS AND 8600 GT REVIEW AT HOT HARDWARE - "NVIDIA is announcing a handful of products today, ranging from the new mid-range GeForce 8600 GTS and GT to the OEM-only GeForce 8300 GS. As you probably expect, these new cards sport the same base feature set as NVIDIA's current flagship DX10-class GeForce 8800 GTX and differ mainly in the level of performance they're able to deliver. NVIDIA does have a couple of tricks up their collective sleeves with this launch as well, like a new, more powerful PureVideo HD engine, which we'll also tell you about on the page ahead."

(04/07) NVIDIA GEFORCE 8600 GTS/GT PERFORMANCE AT FIRINGSQUAD - "NVIDIA has developed a new line of GPUs: the GeForce 8600 and GeForce 8500, which are based on NVIDIA’s new G84 and G86 graphics cores. NVIDIA has incorporated many of the key technologies already found in GeForce 8800 into the GeForce 8600 and GeForce 8500, only they’ve been tweaked to be cheaper to produce. In fact, thanks to a tweaked video processing engine which offloads more fuctions, the new GPUs reduce CPU utilization for H.264 movies, allowing them to play back Blu-ray and HD-DVD movies without needing a high-end CPU."

(04/07) DX10 FOR THE MASSES: NVIDIA 8600 AND 8500 SERIES REVIEW AT ANANDTECH - "For now, we have new hardware at hand, some available now and some not. While the basic architecture is the same as the 8800, there have been some tweaks and modifications. Before we get to performance testing, let's take a look at what we're working with."

(04/07) ARE YOU READY FOR WINDOWS VISTA? AT HARDWARE ZONE - "Microsoft is understandably touting its new Windows Vista operating system with as many superlatives as they can fit in a sentence but the response from consumers seems to be rather muted so far. Half a billion in marketing dollars can certainly make a flashy entrance but for all the publicity generated in the weeks leading to its 30th January release date, there hasn't exactly been the kind of maniacal rush that we had witnessed when tech gadgets like the new Sony PlayStation 3 were initially released."

(04/07) XFX GEFORCE 7600GT FATAL1TY 650MHz IN SLI MODE REVIEW AT TWEAKTOWN - "We have with us today the GeForce 7600GT Fatal1ty from XFX (the version clocked at 650MHz core as opposed to the cheaper 560MHz) which is a bit fancier when compared to our standard run of the mill 7600GT. We’re going to have a look at exactly what the cards are capable of when running in SLI."

(04/07) MEET THE RADEON HD AT THE INQUIRER - "WE HAVE CONFIRMATION of AMD's final naming convention for the R600. And the top end card is now the ATI Radeon HD 2900 XT. The new series of cards, including the 2600, will drop the 'X' that has accompanied the model number since the X800, and harks back to the heady days of the Radeon 9700 series. The HD has been added to the name to indicate the card's ability to process video and audio through HDMI outputs and onboard sound chips."

(04/07) ATI RADEON R600 SAMPLE AT OVERCLOCKERS.CO.UK - "Next week I shall be recieving one of the first R600 samples for testing. We plan to put this card in our top Ultima specification of PC. We shall post pictures and tell you how good it is sometime next week. However exact benchmark results cannot be revealed due to NDA but as you know I will give a subtle hint and post many pictures for you all."

(04/07) DELL BUYS TONS OF AMD GRAPHICS CHIPS AT THE INQUIRER - "AMD'S R6xx SERIES may be having a troubled birth, but the amount of these babies that are being sold numbers in the millions. This is welcome news for AMD, a company that had to revise financial guidance for this year and announce restructuring. As yet unlaunched, its DX10 entry-level chip, R(V)610 is already set to become the fastest-selling graphics chip of all time. OEMs just went beserk for these cards, able to bring Vista capabilities and gaming at baseline resolutions for a very affordable price, thanks to 65nm manufacturing process at TSMC."

(04/07) ATI RADEON X1950 PRO 256MB REVIEW AT SHARKY EXTREME - "The Radeon X1950 Pro is built on the 80nm RV570 graphics core, and sports a similar architecture to the lower-clocked, 90nm Radeon X1900 GT. The RV570 features 12 pixel pipelines, 12 texture units, 8 vertex shaders, and 12 ROPs. This may seem low for a high-end mainstream video card, but the Radeon X1950 Pro includes 3 pixel shaders per pipeline, for a total of 36. This can yield a serious performance edge, especially in SM3.0 games. The Radeon X1950 Pro features 256MB of onboard GDDR3 memory using a 256MB link to the internal ring bus controller. This is the latest generation of 80nm ATI parts, and like the Radeon X1650 XT, the Radeon X1950 Pro supports HDCP and "native" CrossFire using internal connectors."

(04/07) SAPPHIRE RADEON X1950 GT REVIEW AT ELITE BS - "After having taken a look at ATI's Radeon X1950 PRO in its various forms many times on our hallowed pages over the past few months since it was released, you can be left in little doubt as to how impressed we were with the price:performance ratio offered by this particular SKU. By all accounts, we weren't the only ones, with Radeon X1950 PRO boards flying off shelves as the part proved to be immensely popular amongst consumers too."

(04/07) GALAXY GEFORCE 7600 GS 256MB OC HDMI REVIEW AT GURU3D - "The card we'll be using today it pretty low-budget. But hey it suits our needs really well... the card comes from Galaxy. This product used to be in the 160 EUR price range, yet with new cards inbound and time passing .. Galaxy recently decided to introduce a GeForce 7600 GS with 256MB gDDR3 memory (128-bit) and HDMI; all that for merely 110 EUR. HDMI or not, the card itself comes pre-overclocked... so that's a mighty fine deal for an average PC or even better... Home Theater PC as that G73 graphics core most definitely can utilize PureVideo to decode your SD/HD videostreams extremely well."

(04/07) LEADTEK WINFAST 7900GS TDH REVIEW AT OCIA - "Leadtek is one of those companies that many people tend to overlook as just another generic video card company. Actually, they have been around since 1986, a very long time in the computer world. They have a full line of GeForce graphics cards and also manufacture audio/visual telephones, GPS equipment, video surveillance equipment and TV Tuner cards. Anyway, the 7900GS comes packaged in the attractive box seen above."

(04/07) POWERCOLOR RADEON X1950 PRO SCS3 REVIEW AT BIT-TECH.NET - "Today, we’re having a look at one such product – PowerColor’s Radeon X1950 Pro SCS3 Edition. However, before you stop reading because you’ve seen it all before, those funny letters tacked on the end actually mean something, as this one runs in complete silence. By that token, PowerColor hasn’t just implemented one of the many active cooling solutions on the market that claim to be capable of silent operation – this design is actually fanless... Woahh"

(04/07) MSI GEFORCE NX7900GS 512E OC REVIEW AT PCSTATS - "Bearing all this in mind, if you're looking for a new PCI Express videocard to bring your gaming rig up to snuff, the Geforce 7900-family is a good place to start. The MSI NX7900GS-T2D512E-OC Geforce 7900GS is the videocard on our chopping block today, and it can be had for $220 CDN ($190 USD, £96 GBP). For that price you get a PCI Express x16 DirectX 9.0c nVidia 'G71' based videocard that packs in 512MB of GDDR3 memory. What makes this MSI NX7900GS-T2D512E-OC special is that it MSI Computer pre-overclock it straight from the factory."

(04/07) NVIDIA GEFORCE 8600 GTS PREVIEW AT HARDWARE ZONE - "From what we have gathered, the reference NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GTS 256MB will be using the G84 core, clocked to 675MHz and running at 2000MHz DDR for its memory, meaning the core clock is actually faster than the standard GeForce 8800 GTS. But why tell when we can show you? We managed to get our hands on an early review unit of the GeForce 8600 GTS and did some benchmarking of our own. Consider this an early peek into the likely performance of this new DirectX 10 mid-range series."

(04/07) LATEST ATI RADEON R600 PRICES - "The R600 is going to cost $499.00, $199.00 for the R630 XT, $179.00 for the R630 Pro and only $99.00 for the budget R610."

(04/07) DOES READYBOOST REALLY IMPROVE PERFORMANCE? AT HARDWARE SECRETS - "ReadyBoost is a technology brought by Windows Vista that allows any piece of flash memory like pen drives and memory cards to be used as a disk cache improving, in theory, the system performance. However so far we were not able to see any performance improvement on our system. Let’s explore the subject."

(04/07) INTEL G965 EXPRESS CHIPSET REVIEW AT TECH REPORT - "The latest addition to Intel's integrated graphics arsenal is the Graphics Media Accelerator X3000, which can be found in the company's G965 Express chipset. This isn't your average integrated graphics core, though. Intel went all out with the X3000, crafting a graphics core with a unified shader architecture that sports eight Shader Model 3.0-compliant scalar execution units and a blistering 667MHz clock speed. Combine that with a Clear Video processing engine and support for HDMI output with HDCP, and you have quite an attractive graphics proposition for budget systems."

(04/07) POWERCOLOR RADEON X1550 REVIEW AT TECH ZONE - "The ATi Radeon-based X1550 from PowerColor is an entry-level graphics card with entry-level specs and features, but it should be noted that it packs in a hefty 512MB of on-board memory as well as dual DVI outputs."

(04/07) AMD R600 INCLUDES SOUND CARD AT THE INQUIRER - "R600 HAS A secret weapon, an internal sound card. This is the one thing that Nvidia's G8x can't match, other than HDCP on dual-link HDMI. The ATI sound implementation is not GPGPU code. It is dedicated silicon, probably brought on by the Vista DRM infection and MS twisting arms to force it on people. In any case, R600 will be compliant with the Vista requirements and can send sound directly over a HDCP/HDMI link. We are told this is a full HD sound setup, not a cheesy 2.1 channel thing."

(04/07) EVGA GEFORCE 7600GS 512MB REVIEW AT AMDZONE - "The card's GPU core runs at 400MHz and the RAM also at 400MHz. While there are those who've been able to push the 7600GS series rather far in overclocking the highest we could hit was 450MHz for the GPU core and 430MHz for the memory stable. Heat definitely was not a factor but we simply couldn't go any further with the card. No artifacts at all were encountered at this setting with which resulted in a minor speed boost. The card is basically the same as the GeForce 7600GT though with much reduced clockspeeds as the default 7600GT comes in at 560MHz clockspeed for the GPU and 700MHz (1.4GHz effective) for the memory."

(04/07) ASUS EAX1650XT REVIEW AT VIPER LAIR - "The X1650XT is ATI's stab at the 7600GT, at least as it sits from a price point (~$150 US). While ATI has been playing catch up on the top of the line video cards, it has done very well with keeping an edge in the value line-up. Why, you might be asking, should I pay attention to these cards? Well, the simple fact is, the X1650XT and the 7600GT can both handle most of todays games at 16xx X 1xxx (depending on WS etc), with some games being very playable with all the effects enabled."

(04/07) AMD ATHLON64 4800+ X2 ENERGY EFFICIENT REVIEW AT MOTHERBOARD.ORG - "With the recent release of the Intel Core 2 Extreme and Core 2 Quad CPUs Intel has retaken the performance leadership position from AMD in virtually every respect. AMD has released their dual FX-74 systems to combat the Quad Core CPUs, however for most people the AM2 platform is still the platform of choice for most of the enthusiasts on that platform today, as the FX-74 is a bit of a exclusive item right now."

(04/07) DFI LANPARTY UT ICFX3200 MOTHERBOARD REVIEW AT TECH REPORT - "The ICFX3200 is an event not just because it's the first—and thus far only—motherboard based on the RD600, but also because it's DFI's only high-end LANParty board for Core 2 processors. DFI has quickly established itself as a favorite among enthusiasts, and many have been waiting with great anticipation to see what motherboard whiz Oskar Wu can cook up for a Core 2-compatible LANParty. Has DFI's combination of seemingly contradictory ingredients—an AMD chipset with an Intel socket—produced a motherboard with mouth-watering potential? Keep reading to find out."

(04/07) NEW AMD CATALYST v7.3 DRIVER AT AMD-ATI - "OpenGL CrossFire™ Support Under Windows Vista - Catalyst™ 7.3 introduces OpenGL CrossFire™ support for the entire ATI Radeon™ X1000 product series under Microsoft Vista. Future Catalyst™ releases will add further CrossFire™ performance gains once new applications have been profiled specifically for CrossFire™."

(04/07) GPUS VS GAMES SPRING 2007 REVIEW AT XBIT LABS - "Winter and early spring are considered to be far not the best time for outdoor activities. On these cold days, when it gets dark really early, a high-quality computer gamer may be exactly what you need to have some fun. This article continues our tradition of reviewing contemporary games and analyzing the performance of all graphics cards available in the market at a given period of time."
