(07/06) MORE DETAILS LEAK OUT ABOUT RADEON X1950 AND X1650 BY TECHREPORT - "Information has been progressively leaking out about ATI's upcoming Radeon X1650- and X1950-series graphics cards, and new reports on HKEPC seem to have sealed the deal. The Chinese site has nabbed ATI slides that say Radeon X1950 XTX will feature 48 pixel shader processors, a 650MHz core clock, and 2GHz memory. Rumors say this memory will be of the GDDR4 variety. The Radeon X1950 XTX will apparently launch in one month, between August 23 and August 27."

(07/06) INTEL PENTIUM D 940 3.2GHz DUAL CORE REVIEW BY PCSTATS - "The Intel Pentium D 940 processor is the latest victim, errr.... component to pass through the PCSTATS test labs. Built on Intel's 65 nanometer manufacturing process and with two physical processing cores running at 3.2 GHz each, backed up by 2MB of L2 cache, the socket 775 chip certainly makes quite a splash. The Pentium D 840 is more than ever a worthy competitor to AMD's dual core Athlon64 processors. The Pentium D 940 processor runs on an 800 MHz Front Side Bus (FSB) and uses Intel's pinless Socket 775 form factor. The retail processor is sold with a Pulse Width Modulation fan based heatsink that runs quietly and very effectively."

(07/06) ECS KA3 MVP EXTREME REVIEW BY HARDOCP - "Combining ATI's latest CrossFire Xpress 3200 chipset and the AMD AM2 socket processor, the KA3 MVP Extreme comes out of the gate swinging. Does it pack enough punch to take on the NVIDIA nForce 590 based solutions though?"

(07/06) AMD BUYS ATI IN $5.4 BILLION DEAL - "AMD and ATI today announced plans to join forces in a transaction valued at approximately $5.4 billion. The combination will create a processing powerhouse by bringing AMD’s technology leadership in microprocessors together with ATI’s strengths in graphics, chipsets and consumer electronics. The result: A new and more formidable company, determined to drive growth, innovation and choice for its customers, particularly in the commercial and mobile computing segments and in the rapidly-growing consumer electronics market. Combining technologies, people, and complementary strengths, AMD plans to deliver in 2007 customer-centric platforms for the benefit of customers who want to collaborate in the development of differentiated solutions."

(07/06) SAPPHIRE LIQUID-COOLED TOXIC X1900 XTX REVIEW BY TECH REPORT - "Fortunately, there are a few pockets of originality in a landscape of cookie-cutter reference designs. One such beacon of hope is Sapphire's Toxic X1900 XTX, a hot rod rendition of ATI's Radeon X1900 XTX that boasts higher clock speeds and an integrated liquid cooler. That's right: this card comes with liquid cooling in the box, and there's no extra assembly required."

(07/06) ECS RS482-M REVIEW BY HARDWARE SECRETS - "ECS RS482-M is a very simple socket 939 motherboard based on ATI’s chipset with embedded graphics, Radeon Xpress 200 – which uses the same graphics engine from Radeon X300 –, supporting Athlon 64, Athlon 64 FX and Athlon 64 X2 CPUs. We were very curious to benchmark Radeon Xpress 200 and compare its performance to cheap add-in video cards, like GeForce 6200, and also to its main competitor, nVidia’s GeForce 6100."

(07/06) INTEL CORE 2 DUO X6800 REVIEW BY PC PERSPECTIVE - "The wait is nearly over. If you are reading this, then the NDA on the Conroe processor (known throughout the world now as the Intel Core 2 Duo) has lifted and the world is on fire with performance numbers and evaluations. Even though we have had Conroe here at PC Perspective for some time, and we have had the chance to play with it on NVIDIA nForce 590 boards, 975X boards and 965 boards."

(07/06) INTEL CORE 2 DUO X6800 REVIEW BY HARDOCP - "Let's just cut to the chase. You will see a lot of gaming benchmarks today that just simply lie to you. That is right, you will see frames per second numbers that are at best total BS, and at their worst a terrible representation of what difference a new Intel Core 2 processor will make in your gaming experience. The old ways of video game benchmarking do little to tell you about exactly how a new CPU will affect how you play your games or what experience your system supplies to you. Having more CPU power is a very cool thing, but being able to utilize it is not an easy thing to do nowadays."

(07/06) INTEL'S CORE 2 DUO AND CORE 2 EXTREME PROCESSORS BY TECH REPORT - "Fortunately, the wait for Core 2 processors is almost over. Intel has decided to take the wraps off final reviews of its new CPUs today, in anticipation of the chips' release to the public in a couple of weeks. Fish have gotta swim, politicians have gotta dissemble, and TR has gotta test hardware, so of course we've had the Core 2 processors on the test bench here in Damage Labs for a thorough workout against AMD's finest—including the new Energy Efficient versions of the Athlon 64 X2. After many hours of testing, we're pleased to report that the Core 2 chips live up to the hype. Intel has recovered its stride, returned to its winning ways, gotten its groove back, and put the izzle back in its shizzle."

(07/06) MSI GEFORCE 7600 GT REVIEW BY PCSTATS - "The MSI Computer NX7600GT-VT2D256E PCI Express videocard is pretty impressive compared to GeForce 6600GT class models. The frame buffer has been increased to 256MB over the original GeForce 6600GT spec of 128MB. While nVIDIA did also release a 256MB version of the 6600GT, this time around the videocard can take advantage of the memory. The MSI NX7600GT-VT2D256E videocard also supports two dual link DVI output connectors as well as a whole host of TV output options; everything from component output to traditional S-Video is rolled in."

(07/06) LOW POWER SOCKET AM2 CPU: ATHLON64 X2 3800+ 35w AND X2 4600+ 65W - "Back in late May when AMD released Socket AM2 with the flagship FX62 it also released a number of CPUs from budget Semprons, as well as low power variants. Today we have in our possession two such CPUs. The Athlon 64 X2 4600+ 65 watt part, and the Athlon Athlon 64 X2 3800+ 35 watt part. These CPUs bring you dual core power with out as large a power bill. Certainly those who are energy conscience, and those looking for good overclockers should have their interest peaked. Today we will look at each CPUs power consumption, and their overclocking chops before we follow up with performance figures."

(07/06) POWERCOLOR RADEON X1600 XT BRAVO BY HARDOCP - "PowerColor, partner of the Tul Corporation, is a major retailer of ATI GPU based video cards. PowerColor is not new to the scene but it has been quite a while since we have evaluated video cards from them. PowerColor is kicking off some new ATI Radeon X1600 GPU based video cards with one being under the BRAVO edition brand name. BRAVO indicates that the video card will be the best performer in the Radeon X1600 series that PowerColor has to offer. The PowerColor X1600 XT BRAVO edition is that card. Below that is the introduction of the PowerColor X1600 Pro. The primary difference between the two models are memory size and GPU clock and memory frequency. Today we are evaluating the PowerColor Radeon X1600 XT BRAVO edition."
