"We are testing the Intel Core i3 2100 processor against the Intel Core i3 530 processor. The Intel Core i3 2100 is clocked at 3100Mhz and the Intel Core i3 530 is clocked at 2900Mhz. We will be using Benchmarks for testing the Intel Core i3 2100 and Intel Core i3 530 which are:- Divx, Povray, Sysmark 2007, Windows Media Encoder, Dragon Age Origins and World of Warcraft. The Intel Core i3 2100 has 7% higher clock speed than the Intel Core i3 530 but the Intel Core i3 2100 has 3MB L3 Cache while the Intel Core i3 530 has 4MB L3 Cache. It's going to be an interesting fight between the the Intel Core i3 2100 and Intel Core i3 530 Processors."

FINAL RESULTCOMMENT - "The Intel Core i3 2100 gives good performance against the older Intel Core i3 530 with the software we used for benchmarking. Using general pc use the Intel Core i3 2100 was 14% faster than the Intel Core i3 530. Using games the Intel Core i3 2100 was 22% faster than the Intel Core i3 530 for a good result. However you will pay over 29% more for the Intel Core i3 2100 compared to the Intel Core i3 530 and the difference in performance was at most only 22%. If you are interested in purchasing a modern budget CPU then the Intel Core i3 2100 will more than meet your needs because the Intel Core i3 530 although a good Processor it is using Socket 1156 which is not being supported like Socket 1155 which means it will be supported in the future." |
