"We are testing the Intel Core i3 530 processor against the AMD Athlon II X3 455 processor. The Intel Core i3 530 is clocked at 2900Mhz and the AMD Athlon II X3 455 is clocked at 3300Mhz. We will be using Benchmarks for testing the Intel Core i3 530 and AMD Athlon II X3 455 which are:- Divx, Povray, Sysmark 2007, Windows Media Encoder, Dragon Age Origins and World of Warcraft. The Intel Core i3 530 has 13% lower clock speed than the AMD Athlon II X3 455 but the Intel Core i3 530 has 4MB L3 Cache while the AMD Athlon II X3 455 has none. The Intel Core i3 530 is 32nm using Clarkdale with Socket 1156. The AMD Athlon II X3 455 is 45nm using Rana with Socket AM3 so let's see the performance they offer."

FINAL RESULTCOMMENT - "The Intel Core i3 530 gives some good performances against the AMD Athlon II X3 455 with the software we used for benchmarking. Using general pc use the Intel Core i3 530 was 2% faster than the AMD Athlon II X3 455. Using games the Intel Core i3 530 was 3% faster than the AMD Athlon II X3 455. When CPU Price comes into consideration then the Intel Core i3 530 is 8% more exensive than the AMD Athlon II X3 455. There is not much of a difference in performance between the Intel Core i3 530 and AMD Athlon II X3 455 which both offer good performance in General Computer use and Games Software. There is also not much of a difference in the power use of the Intel Core i3 530 and AMD Athlon II X3 455. The Intel Core i3 530 and AMD Athlon II X3 455 are good general use processors which give good performance." |
